Western Digital – finally – enters the SSDs. [Quick Guide]

Following the acquisition of SanDisk by Western Digital for $ 19 billion, it was expected that SSDs Western Digital to be commercialized, this is now done! These TLC SSD are available with high performance, all at a rate that I’ll call it reasonable.

Two lines of SSD are available, in the same spirit that for the drives because it is WD Blue and WD Green lines. Here is some info:

WD Blue:

– capacity: 250 GB, 500 GB, 1 TB
– performance: 545 MB/sec in reading and 520 MB/sec in writing
– Formats: 2.5 inches or M.2 (Type 2280)
– price: €99 (250 GB), 169 (500 GB) and €339 (1 TB) in the format 2.5 inch otherwise it takes about €10 extra for the M.2

WD Green :

– capacity: 120 GB or 240 GB
– performance: 540 MB/sec in reading and 405 MB/sec in writing
– Formats: 2.5 inches or M.2 (Type 2280)
– price: Version 240 GB from € 89 to € 95 according to the format, the M.2 being more expensive
