Huawei P10 more: full test
Huawei P10 more: in the box
Let’s start with the packaging which is the same as the Huawei P10, namely a box that opens like a book and that immediately reveals the product accompanied by a fast charger “Huawei Super Charge”, USB – C cable is going well, the headphones white and of course the small key to open the door and put the SIM card and microSD card.
P10 and P10 Huawei logically share some of their technical details. But differences do exist. The screen is bigger, 5.5 inches, and offer a better definition of 2560 x 1440 pixels. It also passes 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. Add to that the infrared, the new Leica SUMMILUX-H 2.0 Pro Edition sensor and a 3750 mAh battery, and you have what could be called a version ‘More’.

Huawei P10: a great compact phone
Huawei P10 most design is identical to that of my little brother. Compared to the more P9, the angles are much more rounded, the fingerprint sensor passes by, the home button. The back of the phone reveals the glass Strip characteristic of the range which houses the double sensor photo along with the LED flash and the different auto focus. Integration band network up and down is pretty aesthetic.
on the bottom edge, USB – C is always the part, along with the headphone jack and the unique grid for the speaker. On the right edge, we particularly appreciate the integration of the button of power as well as its different texture that allows to easily identify it without confusing it with the volume.
the grip is quite a surprise insofar as 5.5-inch screen is contained in a format that is not much larger than that of the P10 and its screen 5.1 inches. Aluminium back brand any fingerprints on our silver version, but the phone tends to drag a bit between the fingers. This is a shell of protection becomes relevant.
Huawei P10 more: a screen that passes to the Quad HD
as always with Huawei, the screen is covered right out of the box by a welcome screen protection. 5.5 inch slab proposes a definition Quad HD 2560 x 1440 pixels, for a 540 dpi resolution. This is a significant change to the screen Full HD of the Huawei P9 Plus or Huawei Mate 9, but this ultimately doesn’t change much.
We’ll find the usefulness of such a definition on a screen so “small” for use with virtual reality helmets. Otherwise, you will not see a difference in usage compared to Full HD.
while Huawei P9 as getting into a screen AMOLED, the P10 more returns to a technology brand Masters, the IPS – NEO. If the contrast is logically less than on the competing technology, it remains quite correct.
The color temperature is good, Colorimetry is not perfect, but you can adjust in the settings screen to get a better result. The maximum brightness is excellent, enjoy the P10 plus when the light is strong with no problems. Without reaching the summits, the IPS of the Huawei P10 Plus screen is very good and satisfied the vast majority of users.
Huawei P10 more: benchmarks and performance
in our test of the P10 Huawei, we noted the excellent performance of the Kirin 960 processor and its GPU Mali – G71 MP8. The P10 more embarked the same SoC, but with 6 GB of RAM instead of 4 GB. Does have a significant impact on performance? Not really.
We redid several times each of theoretical benchmarks, to AnTuTu through Geekbench, 3D Mark or even Basemark X, and the results were very close between the two versions of the P10. The version most displayed even sometimes a little less high scores according to the tests.
graphic side, if Gamebench use 100 MB of RAM and more to turn Real Racing 3, the results are the same, that is excellent. 60 frames per second on average on a 22-minute play session, and autonomy in these conditions estimated at 3:30, be a little bit more than the P10.
Therefore, the most important definition of screen doesn’t have a significant impact. Just remember that most P10 Huawei shows performing in all situations, without heating up excessively. The 6 GB of RAM are there to make the phone ready for the future, if needed.
Huawei P10 more: interface EMUI Android Nougat
we had the opportunity to test several times to EMUI 5.1 interface which runs on Android 7.0 Nougat. She offers of good ideas and a lot of customization.
We particularly note the possibility of having a home screen with or without drawer of applications, as well as the physical navigation button that allows easily without the virtual navigation bar and win on the surface of display on the screen after a period of adaptation.
Some default installed applications are far from essential, but you have the option to delete some. For more details on the EMUI 5.1 interface, please refer to our full test of the Huawei P10 .
Huawei P10 more: audio quality
nothing particularly notable about the audio quality of the Huawei P10 Plus. Its speaker located on the bottom edge delivers a just OK, must not push too high lest the quality to degrade. The headphones supplied in the box have a good ergonomics and offer a clear and accurate sound. After plugging in, several Helmets on, the Jack works fine.
Huawei P10: network and GPS
the Huawei P10 more is of course compatible with all frequency bands 4G French, with maximum rates theoretical class 12, namely up to 600 / 150 Mbps. The hatch on the left side of the phone can accommodate one nanoSIM, in addition to a microSD card to expand storage up to 256 GB memory.
the network hangs is good (tested on the Orange network), the quality of calls also with a perfectly intelligible interlocutor, in both directions. We also appreciate the DAS who is only 0.89 W/kg. The accuracy of the GPS’s date with a first fix in three small seconds and accuracy average of 8 meters.
Huawei P10 more: the new Leica photo sensor
here it is, the new Leica SUMMILUX-H 2.0 Pro Edition sensor which replaces the SUMMARIT-H 2.0 present on the Huawei Mate 9 , but also the P10. If both sensors take advantage of the new photo algorithms developed in partnership with the brand, the new sensor the P10 Pro more stands out by its largest opening, f/1.9 against f/2.2 for her little brother.
This translates into a better exposure to light, especially on night shots, and a better preservation of the details, be it with the color sensor or monochrome sensor. The new SUMMILUX sensor is superior to the SUMMARIT almost in all points, with a few rare exceptions.
indeed, we found a most important quality of the quality loss using the optical zoom x 2 on the new sensor in some situations. If you look at the zoom on Son Goku, we clearly see a greater level of detail with the sensor of the P10 Plus, which is not the case of the zoom on the brick wall, or the light conditions are different, and where the P10 is more accurate.
for the rest, the autofocus is extremely fast, monochrome pictures are more beautiful than ever and the openness and portrait modes effects bokeh of any beauty like no other smartphone to date.
A great photo, the best ever built on a sensor phone Huawei. If the P10 clearly for my place on the podium of the best photophones, Galaxy S7 stands still up to him in all situations. We expect to see whether the Galaxy S8 even LG G6 will take or the ascendant on the Chinese brand.
Huawei P10 more: range and recharge time
the Huawei P10 more battery is 3750 MAH, against 3200 for the P10. But the screen and the definition are also more important. In the end, this version Plus offers autonomy somewhat above that of the P10, but without reaching that of a Huawei Mate 9 which with its 4000 mAh battery and its Full HD screen are much better.
You can count on a big day of intensive use without any problem, and up to a day and a half in a more reasonable use. Even playing the power saving mode, it seems difficult to go for the two days.
the quick charge “Huawei Super Charge” is of course part of the. It can save 50% battery in 30 minutes. The full charge is logically longer that celle that the P10, allow two hours if your battery gets out of breath.
Huawei P10: price and availability
the Huawei P10 Plus will be available from mid-April, the launch price € 749, recommended version 6 GB with 128 GB of internal storage. The colours available at launch will be first Graphite Black (black), Mystic Silver (Silver).
Huawei P10 more: the verdict
with this P10 more, Huawei book finally its the more high-end smartphone that is not content to be a larger version of the P10, but comes to improve it on a key point: the camera. Via its partnership with Leica, the Chinese brand wants to impose itself on the market of the photophones. After changed the way we take pictures on smartphones with Huawei P9 , the brand further enhances its formula.
The integration of the new Leica sensor shows the ambitions of sustainability of the partnership with the German manufacturer and brand. The result is successful, Huawei manages to rise to the level of the best in the market in terms of photo quality, but for how long? If it competes for time with the best, we don’t know what will happen in competition in the coming weeks for their high-end 2017…
